Lifecycle maintenance kept this stretch of IH-94 in service: concrete base patching, joint repair, shoulder adjustments, ramp widening, guardrail and crash cushion installation, ditch corrections, and storm and culvert replacement. As a subconsultant to Patrick Engineering, Lynch provided construction inspection and survey support for the contractors, much of it under night closures.
Keeping an Interstate in Service
Interstates do not get to close for maintenance - the work happens around the traffic. On IH-94 between STH 83 and CTH T in Waukesha County, a lifecycle maintenance program renewed the corridor piece by piece: concrete base patching and joint repair in the mainline, shoulder adjustments, ramp widening, new guardrail and crash cushions, ditch corrections, and storm sewer and culvert replacement.
Lynch & Associates, as a subconsultant to Patrick Engineering, provided construction inspection and survey support for the contractors - verifying line and grade, documenting quantities, and keeping the paperwork as current as the pavement, with much of the work delivered under night closures where the production windows are short and the documentation still has to be right.
