Extending the life of a high-volume freeway from Milwaukee County to Washington County - much of it after dark.
Location: Milwaukee–Washington Counties, WI · Client: WisDOT · Services: Rehabilitation Support · Night Construction
Lynch supported WisDOT's rehabilitation of the I-41 North-South corridor from Milwaukee County into Washington County - concrete base patching, milling and paving, and drainage renewal executed largely at night. The interstate carried full traffic every morning while the corridor was renewed beneath it.
The I-41 North-South corridor carries the region's traffic whether or not it's under construction - so rehabilitation had to happen around it. Lynch supported improvements spanning Milwaukee County to Washington County: concrete base patching, HMA milling and resurfacing, and auxiliary lane and shoulder adjustments to support operations.
Drainage and structures got equal treatment - ditch adjustments, storm sewer work, culvert replacement, bridge repairs, median barrier, guardrail, sidewalks, and lighting. Much of the work was delivered at night to keep the freeway moving while extending the service life of pavement and bridge assets across the corridor.
