Five miles of state highway improvements in Walworth County, from survey through final PS&E.
Lynch directed preliminary and final design for approximately five miles of STH 67 improvements between STH 50 and I-43 in Walworth County. The scope ran the full breadth of a WisDOT corridor project: surveying, traffic analysis, transportation planning, environmental assessment, hazardous materials investigation, stormwater and hydrology, and complete plans, specifications, and estimates.
The constructed improvements renewed the corridor from 1,000 feet north of STH 50 to Commerce Drive with a 3-inch mill and 5¼-inch asphalt overlay, added right-turn lanes at key intersections, and widened paved shoulders to 5 feet for bicycle accommodation. Every turn-down beam guard on the project was replaced with energy-absorbing terminals, and any beam guard below current standards was brought up to code.
The full scope ran deep: a traffic study with crash and capacity analysis, transportation management plan, environmental assessment, structure survey report, hazardous waste and encroachment reports, stormwater and hydrology analysis, design study report, an exception to standards, and utility coordination - with public involvement carried through the entire design.
